In the southern hemisphere we are celebrating Autumn Equinox, also known as the Fall Equinox. It is a time of balance and transition. It occurs around March 20th or 21st and marks the end of summer and the beginning of autumn and is also the time when the day and night are equal in length.
Symbolically, the Autumn Equinox is a time to reflect on the balance between light and dark, and to embrace the changing seasons. It's a time to let go of the old and make way for the new, just as the leaves of trees begin to change colour and fall to the ground.
One way to celebrate the Autumn Equinox is through a simple ritual. Here's a quick and easy one you can do to connect while you use the air element to reflect on what changes you are going through at this time:
Find a quiet outdoor space, such as a park or garden, where you can connect with nature.
Collect a handful of leaves or other natural materials that represent the changing of the seasons. You might choose brightly coloured leaves, browning leaves or some sticks or twigs you find.
Find a comfortable spot to sit and take a few deep breaths, allowing yourself to be fully present in the moment.
Hold your collection of leaves or other materials in your hands and take a moment to reflect on the changes you're experiencing in your life. Think about what changes you are going through and what you want to let go of and what you're making space for.
When you're ready, scatter the leaves or other materials around you, symbolically releasing the old and making way for the new.
Take a moment to express gratitude for the blessings in your life, and to set intentions for the season ahead.
Finally, take a deep breath and soak in the beauty of the natural world around you. Allow yourself to fully embrace the changes of the season and the energy of the Autumn Equinox.
The Autumn Equinox is a powerful time to connect with the natural world and to honour the transitions in our lives. By taking a few moments to reflect and connect with nature, we can tap into the energy of this special day and set the stage for a season of growth and transformation.
